Q: Can I interview a social worker and/or tour your office?

A: Due to the high volume of requests, we are not able to provide personal interviews with social workers.

Out of respect for our service recipients and staff, as well as to maintain confidentiality, we are unable to offer tours of our building.

Please note, the agency does have a Speakers’ Bureau that offers presentations to classes and community groups as requested and based upon staff availability. If your educator would like to arrange for a presentation, a request can be submitted online.

Q: What is the Duty to Report?

A: We all share a responsibility to protect children from harm. Ontario’s Child, Youth and Family Services Act (CYFSA) formerly referred to as the Child and Family Services Act, states clearly that members of the public, including professionals who work with children, have an obligation to report promptly to a children’s aid society (CAS) if they fear a child is unsafe or being harmed. Q: What happens when a report is made?

A: When a report is made, a Child Protection Worker will gather as much information as possible in order to evaluate and assess the concern. Learn more here.

Q: Are you a charitable organization?

A: Hamilton Child and Family Supports is a not-for profit organization funded through the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services.

The Society’s Charitable Business Number is 118852136RR0001. Donated funds do not support operations. Donations provide recreational, therapeutic and educational opportunities for children in care. Learn more about our fundraising programs by visiting the Donation Centre.

Q: Where can I find reports and statistics about the services you offer?
