Grateful Hearts program (Holiday support)

At Hamilton Child and Family Supports, we are committed to equitable outcomes for the children, youth, and families we serve. We serve families of diverse faiths and traditions. One of the things we share is gratitude and this is the basis of our Grateful Hearts program. This program reflects the diversity of our community, and has been made available to support all families, no matter how they celebrate. Learn more about the Grateful Hearts program

Children’s Fund

The recreational, therapeutic, and educational opportunities made available through the Children’s Fund play an important role in positively impacting the lives of children and youth in the organization’s care.

Parents want what is best for their children and HCFS is no different. The Children’s Fund ensures HCFS is able to provide children and youth in care with the same opportunities as their peers. It enables them to participate on sports teams, go on school trips, pursue hobbies and interests, etc. All of these opportunities enrich and enhance their young lives while also enabling them to make new friends, learn new skills, and simply have fun.

Bursary & Educational Opportunities Fund

Support of the Bursary & Educational Opportunities Fund allows the organization to offer support and guidance to children beginning early in elementary school with the Homework Club and one-to-one tutoring, as well as financial support for youth pursuing post-secondary academics. Many of the youth involved in these early programs continue on to enroll and succeed in post-secondary programs at trade schools, colleges and universities.

This program serves the obvious purpose of providing much needed financial support, however, it also serves, perhaps more importantly, as an opportunity to recognize and reward youth who have not allowed their circumstances to dictate their futures. They have put in the hard work required to succeed and fulfill their academic dreams allowing them the opportunity to enjoy a successful and bright future.

In Memoriam

Donations to HCFS in memory of an individual that has touched your life are a wonderful way to recognize an individual and show your support to their family. In memoriam donations are directed to the organization’s Children’s Fund unless requested otherwise. You can be sure that the impact of your in-memoriam gift will be positive and long-lasting.

Market 26

Market 26 is an in-house store that provides youth on extended care and living independently with the opportunity to access non-perishable food, household supplies and personal hygiene products once a month, free of charge. The program helps ease the stress of making ends meeting for youth on a limited monthly income. HCFS welcomes community support to help maintain this program. For more information, please contact Janice D’Agostino at 905-522-1121 ext. 6314. We welcome donations of:

• Peanut Butter • Jam • Canned turkey, tuna and chicken • Kraft Dinner • Pasta & Sauce
• Rice side dishes • Soup • Granola Bars • Cereal • Pancake Mix & Syrup
• Toiletry items such as body wash, shampoo, conditioner, hand soap, etc.

Planned Giving

A significant way you can support vulnerable children and youth at risk is by making a deferred or planned gift to Hamilton Child and Family Supports. Deferred gifts can be made through bequests, gifts of securities, life insurance policies, gifts of RRSP value, charitable gift annuities, strip bonds and outright gifts. There are many options available to ensure a legacy of caring for children and youth.

Tribute Gift

A tribute gift to Hamilton Child and Family Supports is a meaningful way to acknowledge a special occasion such as a birthday, anniversary or other important life event or to express gratitude to someone who has made a special impact on your family’s life, such as a teacher, coach, or even your family doctor.

Tribute gifts will be directed to the Children’s Fund to be used where they are most needed, or you can designate your gift to a specific program such as Summer Camp, Sponsorship & Toy Room, Market 26 or the Bursary & Educational Opportunities Fund.

When you make a tribute gift, we will send a personalized card announcing your gift to the honoree, outlining the wonderful opportunities that are provided to vulnerable children in our community courtesy of kind donors.
