HAMILTON, April 19, 2002
The Young

Society of Hamilton (CAS) and five partner agencies Citizen Action
Group, Community Adolescent Network, Grace Haven, St. Martins Manor and
Victorian Order of Nurses.
Funded under the Human Resources
Developments National Homelessness Initiative, the program provides
pregnant teens and teen parents with access to various services to help them
break the cycle of poverty and dependence. The services include housing
support; parenting and life skills; social skills, education and literacy; job
training and employment, among many other services.
Roles of the
Partners
The six agencies are using their services to target assistance

safe and nurturing environment for infants and children in their own homes; and
for children, who are in care, the Parent Support Worker facilitates
reintegration into the home.
Community Adolescent Network

pool of appropriate housing for young mothers and educates them on the roles
and responsibilities of landlords and tenants.
Grace Haven and St.
Martins Manor

care and respite of children to allow young mothers to access community and
family support programs and to provide time for young mothers to attend
training courses and job interviews.
