What is the CAS?
The Children's Aid Society helps kids and their families when there are problems at home. The C.A.S. tries to make sure that kids are safe and free from all kinds of abuse or neglect.

Who calls the CAS?
Sometimes parents or kids call when they are experiencing difficulties at home. Other people, like doctors, teachers, policemen or relatives may call if they think a child is being hurt or neglected.

When should you call the CAS?
If you are being abused or neglected.
If you have been touched in a way that makes you uncomfortable or scared.
If you are having serious problems at home and need someone to turn to.

What happens when you call?
The C.A.S...
will look into your concern
will investigate the report of abuse or neglect.
will talk to you and your family.
will try very hard to help families stay together.
will provide a safe environment such as a foster home when parents are unable to care for children.

What happens next?
The C.A.S. will try very hard to help the child and their family solve the problems at home. Sometimes serious family problems cannot be solved right away and the child may have to go to a "safe place" temporarily. A child may go to a relatives or friend's home or maybe to a "foster home".

What is a Foster Home?
A "foster home" is a loving and caring home with parents who will look after and care for a child on a temporary basis. Foster parents work together with the C.A.S. staff to develop the best plan of care for each child. Their goal is to reunite children with their families.

Always remember...
The C.A.S. is committed to help children and their families.
The C.A.S. will do everything it can to make sure that each child is safe and well taken care of.
Every child has the right to safety and protection from abuse or neglect.

Every child deserves safety and happiness!
